You will need to follow a strict diet before your colonoscopy, and take a medication to prepare your bowel for the procedure. You can pick up preparation from the chemist (no prescription required).

Bowel preparation is important, because if your bowel is not clear, it is not possible for your doctor to safely and effectively examine the bowel.

You may be required to repeat the procedure if the preparation is not successful.
