Liver Clinic

Our team provides multidisciplinary care and assessment for patients with inflammatory bowel disease, inclusive of Ulcerative Colitis and Crohn’s Disease.

In both diseases there is chronic inflammation of the gastrointestinal tract. In ulcerative colitis the inflammation is limited to the large bowel (colon) and rectum whereas in Crohn’s Disease inflammation can affect anywhere from the mouth to the anus. Symptoms include bloody diarrhoea, crampy abdominal pain, unexplained weight loss or anaemias. Treatment is usually required long term.

Our service includes face-to-face clinics every week with a multidisciplinary team including specialist nurses, dietician, gastroenterologists and surgeons. We also offer an advice line, intestinal ultrasound service and therapeutic drug monitoring.
