Research plays a vital role in tackling the challenges in gastrointestinal and liver diseases.

We conduct high quality research in state-of-the-art facilities. Our goal is to take innovation from ‘bench to bedside’ and advance knowledge in the field of gastroenterology through innovative basic science, translational, and clinical research.

The Gastroenterology and Liver Department conducts research at Liverpool Hospital and the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research. The Department also has strong collaborations with several universities and collaborative research groups.
